"Digging Deep"

  •Berley Holmes began working for H. C. Price in 1964 with Nashville Gas Company. Around 1978, H. C. Price sold their La Vergne, TN branch to their manager (Crego), who continued to contract with Nashville Gas as All Star Construction with Berley Holmes as their manager. In 1981, Berley Holmes purchased the company as his own, renamed it, & continued to contract with Nashville Gas Company. 

• In 1995 B.H.Holmes Construction Company was Incorporated.  

•In 2016, with only 4 crews, B.H.Holmes Construction was awarded half of the Nashville gas area. Within 1 month, Holmes Construction partnered with 2 other contractors in the area as subcontractors. By 2017, B.H.Holmes had acquired 4 subcontractors (already trained & certified in the gas business) under their umbrella. The partnership grew & allowed there to be an average of 33 crews comprised of approximately 200 employees under Holmes Construction’s umbrella.

•In 2022,B.H.Holmes expanded to accommodate other utilities such as water, sewer, run electrical conduit, and more.

•In 2024, Granddaughter Shauna Altizer steps up to make B.H.Holmes a Woman Owned Business.

•B.H.Holmes Construction brings over 41 years of experience in working in underground utilities & natural gas work. It is a family owned & operated business, spanning 3 generations, with members working with Nashville Gas reaching back to 1964.

Giving back to the community

  Being a family owned business, living & working in the area, B.H.Holmes regularly contributes to local causes & charities by donating money, time, & needed items to organizations. Some of these include, but are not limited to:

  * Donated money for banners at local schools for sports

•Purchasing Championship rings for local high school sports team 

•Grading work & donating materials & labor for local high school team fields. 

•Building a hockey field & skate park for La Vergne

•Building ball fields for local city parks & schools 

•Holmes Construction Annual Bicycle Gifting (over 1,000 bicycles gifted to local needy children) 

•Paid off cafeteria balances at multiple local schools in Rutherford County. 

•Donating materials and supplies to "Santa's Forgotten Hero's" for disabled veterans.

• Wounded Warrior Project

•Nashville Speedway,  In the 1970's our own Dale Holmes put the pedal to the metal in the first Holmes Construction sponsored race car. Since then, we have sponsored numerous drivers that race from Alabama to North Carolina.
